Sandbag Drag Workout
What do an old leather belt, a rope, and two sandbags have in common? They are all part of my new favorite workout.
Over break, my dad and I discovered some football blocking sleds left unattended, and they were a lot of fun. So as soon as I got back to school, I found a way to simulate the same workout. It’s just a rope tied to two sandbags and looped around an old belt. And it is a ton of fun:
These sprints are insanely tiring. I recommend one or two unweighted sprints to warm up, and take plenty of time to catch your breath between runs. Also, start slowly with the rope tight – the idea is not to jerk the bags around, just to smoothly drag them.

Is Grass-Fed Beef Worth It?
Primal Don has a nice post today about the hormone content of beef, both conventional and grass-fed. For months, I’ve been meaning to take a look at the differences myself, and now is a great chance.
He makes a great case on the hormone subject (I’ll let you read it yourself), and he plans to tackle antibiotics next. So I’ll take a look at four ways I’ve heard Grass-fed is better: Omega-3s, Beta-Carotene, CLAs, and E-Coli.

(Evolutionary) Eat This, Not That
As I mention in the “About” section, I think food quality is extremely crucial to health, and my definition of food quality is very similar to the paleo/primal menu. Here’s my take on nutrition.

Primal(ish) Feast – Figs, Goat Cheese Quiche, Chocolate Bacon
It is a Friday of a Wednesday here due to Veteran’s Day (though I’ll be in the lab tomorrow anyway, oh well) so we went a little overboard with dinner.
First, we had simple yet decadent Hors d’oeuvres: Fig halves with goat cheese. Wonderfully delicious and super easy to make.
Catch the Entree and Dessert after the jump.

Primal Pizza
Tonight we made primal pizza according to this recipe. It was magically delicous; it completely satisfied any pizza craving I had.
In fact, pizza was perhaps my most strongly craved item during the first few weeks of my primal experience. I suspect that having this during that time would have made my transition easier.
We used bacon, mushrooms fried in bacon grease, and mozzarella cheese atop tomato paste sauce.
